  • Overview

    The Director of Strategic Planning will provide strategic leadership to assigned accounts. Specifically, creating a unified demand generation strategy across channels designed to bring significant marketing and business value to the client’s brand in a business-to-business setting. You will identify insights and opportunities and translate them into actionable ideas and programs designed to impact business metrics. You will also be responsible for supervising Strategic Planners, managing their work, and guiding them on their projects.

    What you'll do:

    • You will have day-to-day client contact for all matters of strategy and planning, potentially including marketing and brand strategy, communications strategy and engagement planning, for specific assigned clients
    • You will lead the discovery and definition of differentiating customer insights, translating them into strategic and creative platforms
    • You will develop, direct and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research that answers key questions and provides fodder for insight identification
    • You will work cross-functionally within the agency and with client teams to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies, including Data and Technology teams
    • You will partner with Account Services and Creative teams to gain client approval, and “sell in” recommended creative strategic direction
    • You will support the identification of, and participate in, new business pitches and revenue opportunities by working with Account Services, Creative, and Database Strategy on strategic development.
    • You will serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert within the agency, with clients, and within the industry at large

    • You have the ability to synthesize information from various sources to create an actionable point of view and direction for a project with the ability to expertly package and deliver it
    • You are highly resourceful, with strong research skills and a working knowledge of advanced marketing analytics
    • You are proactive and able to work independently plus have the supervisory skills to lead a team and mentor young talent
    • You are highly creative, with first-rate conceptual skills able to unify cross-functional teams to work as one towards a common goal.
    • You have exceptional oral and written communications skills; a captivating and influential presenter
    • You have exceptional listening skills
    • You have strong deadline orientation and the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

    Requirements:

    • BA/BS Marketing or Communications degree, or equivalent work experience
    • 10+ years’ experience as a Strategist or Planner in the marketing, advertising and/or branding fields creating, leading, and selling through digital, direct and/or integrated marketing strategies and solutions
    • Experience developing data-driven marketing strategies, B2B marketing strategies, leveraging marketing automation tools such as Marketo 
    • Experience managing a team of Strategic Planners with varying levels of experience
