  • Overview

    The Strategic Planning Director will provide strategic leadership to assigned accounts, creating a unified strategy across channels designed to bring significant marketing and business value to the client’s brand. As the owner of consumer understanding, you will identify consumer insights and opportunities and translate them into actionable ideas and programs. You will also be responsible for supervising the Strategic Planners & Senior Strategic Planners, managing their work, and consulting with them on their projects.

    What you'll do:

    • You will have day-to-day client contact for all matters of strategy and planning, including marketing and brand strategy, communications strategy and engagement planning, for specific assigned clients

    • You are a leader in discovering and articulating differentiating customer insights and translating them into strategic and creative platforms

    • You will develop, direct and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research that answers key questions and provides fodder for insight identification

    • You will work cross-functionally within the agency to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies

    • You will partner with Account Services and Creative teams to gain client approval, and “sell in” recommended strategic direction

    • You will support the identification of, and participate in, new business pitches and revenue opportunities by working with Account Services, Creative, and Database Strategy on strategic development.

    • You will serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert within the agency, with clients, and within the industry at large

    Who you are:

    • You have advanced understanding of integrated marketing principles including digital, direct, brand and database marketing

    • You have the ability to synthesize information from various sources to create an actionable point of view and direction for a project

    • You have highly resourceful, with strong research skills and a working knowledge of advanced marketing analytics

    • You are proactive and able to work independently

    • You are highly creative, with first-rate conceptual skills

    • You have exceptional oral and written communications skills; a captivating and influential presenter

    • You have exceptional listening skills

    • You are strong deadline orientation and ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.

    • You have the ability to work in a flexible, dynamic and fast-paced environment


    • BA/BS Marketing or Communications degree, or equivalent work experience

    • 10+ years’ experience as a Strategist or Planner in the marketing, advertising and/or branding fields creating, leading, and selling through digital, direct and/or integrated marketing strategies and solutions

    • Experience managing a team of Strategic Planners with varying levels of experience

    • Experience developing CRM campaign strategies, data-driven marketing strategies OR experience developing B2B marketing strategies, leveraging marketing automation tools such as Marketo
